The UK Boogie Woogie Club venue is the Function Room at The Royal British Legion, Sturminster Newton, Dorset, DT10 1DU, where Club Nights are held on the first Monday of every month (see website for details and exceptions).
The Club is a non-profit making organisation which exists to promote, develop and support the enjoyment of Boogie Woogie Music. There is a Bar and a dance floor for those who feel so inclined!
The regular monthly club nights are an opportunity for enthusiasts to get together and enjoy some scintillating "live" sessions, lead by International pianist and teacher, Julian Phillips. All abilities are encouraged to join in and experience the thrill of playing in a performance situation with a band accompaniment. The Resident band comprises: Chris Davidson on the Boogie Box Bass, Howard Meyrick on Saxaphone and Jonny Neilson on the drums.
We would like to thank all the regular and visiting musicians who turn out and play for us on the club nights. Our playing members come from across the UK, and we have regular visitors from the continent too! We would especially like to acknowledge and congratulate the younger, up and coming playing members for their outstanding levels of achievement in this form of music including Emily Lees(16), Adam West(16), Polly Meyrick(15), Rhiannon Phillips(16) and Scott Wright (12)
The club assists in the organisation of the annual UK Boogie Woogie Festival, which enjoys its 7th season this summer on 1st, 2nd & 3rd July 2011.
Come along to the UK Boogie Woogie Club for a great evening’s entertainment. You can pay £3.50 per person temporary membership for the evening or become a full time member for £25 annual membership (10 evenings).
